1. I just came back from my neighbor's birthday dinner at a prominent restaurant in Menglembu.
2. While I was there, I was observing how people eat and how they conduct themselves.
3. The invitation card stated that the starting time is 7pm SHARP. Guess what? We arrived at 6.50 and we sat there for like an hour waiting for people to finish arriving. Some people were late by one whole HOUR. How despicable! Its really mean for people like us who arrived according to the time stated. We had to starve for one hour, waiting like complete idiots for everyone to finally arrive. I mean, for the whole hour, many people trickled in and we weren't the first.
4. However, there were even people who came in the MIDDLE of the dinner! If thats not called LATENESS, I really don't know what is. Typical Chinese! Everyone was probably thinking that since everyone else is normally late, why sit there like idiots. Might as well arrive late. But guess what, it doesn't work that way. Just imagine if there are tons of people like you!
5. Other than the apparent lack of punctuality, these people just came in, greet the birthday woman, gave her the angpaus and start chatting like no one's business. It was like some kind of market with pockets of conversation everywhere. As me and my mum were like odd one outs in the specific table, (my other neighbours and my grandmother were allocated one table and there's not enough places there, so my mum and I were forced to sit at another table), we had no one to talk to. We kept quiet and started commenting on the apparent rudeness some people seem to show.
6. While they were chatting LOUDLY, clearly oblivious to the surroundings, the waiters began serving food. Then, once they saw food, these people immediately started poking their chopsticks at the food and grabbing them vainly onto their plates. Such gluttony and greed! My mum and I were shocked at their gluttony. Please, eat slowly!
7. Then while they were eating and after they ate the specific dish, they began to resume their tirade of chatting loudly and laughing over mundane topics. The food in their mouth were spewing all around the table! Goodness! As in chinese dinners, dishes are served one at a time to allow the chefs to cook the succeeding dish.
8. Just imagine I had to experience that 10 times as there were 10 different dishes. Such uncivilised people indeed! Didn't anyone teach them NOT TO TALK WITH THEIR MOUTH FULL?
9. Then, once they finished the dessert, people began to DESERT the restaurant in DROVES, without any regard for the poor birthday woman. The birthday woman had to stand up and rush to the doors to say goodbye and thank you for their presence.
10. Thats incredibly rude to the birthday woman. Without making any effort to maintain civility, these people just stand up and LEAVE.
11. Just imagine all these happening in any restaurant anywhere else except Asia. The Europeans and Americans will kick these people out of their restaurant!
12. Their antics just make me think that they just come to eat and socialise. They are not celebrating the birthday, they are just here for a free 10 course dinner!
13. GUESS WHAT? UNFORTUNATELY ALL THE PEOPLE DESCRIBED ABOVE ARE
CHINESE!!!!14. Only the Chinese are so uncivilised. Although this is not the first time I experienced such distasteful dining, (my first was on a Japan-Korea-Shanghai Cruise which was filled with CHINESE), it still disgusts me!
15. Urgh! Disgraceful PEOPLE!
