Finally, the much anticipated 22nd sequel of James Bond came out yesterday. I watched it last night with my mum and one of her friends. We thought there won't be much people at the 9.45pm show. Alas, we were wrong. We were forced to buy the B row seats as there are no more seats behind.
However, after 10 minutes, we saw no one took the 3 seats behind us, so we promoted ourselves to the seats which were much more comfortable.
The movie is action packed, thrilling and exciting. The Bond Girl is so bloody sexy and hot...I swear to god, half of the men in the theatre were drooling over her.
I love the cars! Thats the opening scene! There's the Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo again!
The movie chronicles the events exactly 1 hour after Casino Royale ended. Bond showed no mercy in this latest instalment. He is much more grimmer than ever as he tries to discover why his lover betrayed him in Casino Royale.
The synopsis may read like a typical Bond fare, but the film is unique in its own ways. The girls, the cars, the plot of the movie are really enthralling.
The director, Marc Foster brought Bond back to reality. He isn't an untouched hero and he has his own faults. He has a vulnerability and an emotional complexity that makes him human. As he never experienced true love before falling in love with Vesper in Casino Royale and when that love was taken away from him, he felt betrayed and unable to trust anyone.
The deserts of Bolivia are very prominent in the movie as it reflects Bond's emotional state. It represents his solitude and loneliness. In the movie, Bond was caught between the CIA, M16 and the evil organisation Quantum.
Quantum of Solace is an absolutely fitting title. Quantum means measure and solace means comfort. Bond is looking for a quantum of solace, a place for his heart to calm down after losing his love in Casino Royale.
I still dislike Daniel Craig though. I don't remember Ian Fleming writing Bond as a blonde 5'11 guy. He should be 6 ft and has black hair. The action in the movie are largely constrained to modern weaponry with the Bond Girl not as agressive as before, like Datuk Michelle Yeoh. The Bond Girl used the gun more than fight with her bare fists.
Judie Dench still plays M. Her face and expressions totally suit the role and I think she is a really good actress. Its funny though as she has alot of one liners like Bond.
Though, I still enjoy the one liners Bond say. Unfortunately, there was no "I'm Bond, James Bond" moments in the movie. It's replaced by:
