1. Yes, finally the costliest Presidential campaign ever has finally ended in a suspenseful showdown between President Elect Barack Obama and Senator John McCain
2. President Elect Obama won 349 electoral college votes while Senator McCain won 149.
3. It may looks like Obama won by a landslide, but the popular vote is actually much much more closer than the electoral college results. 46% of the electorate voted for McCain while 52% voted for Obama.
4. In my opinion, there are 6 reasons McCain lost.
5. Firstly, McCain was never a economy genius. Once the economy went bust, the Americans began to flock to Obama as he seems to be the better economist. As long as the economy remains on the headlines, Obama gains a leverage.
6. McCain inherited a horrible pile of shit from President Bush, one of the worst Presidents ever in the history of USA. The economy is a pile of mess, and the Iraqi war killed the Republican Party's hopes of winning another term in office. If President Bush was as good as his father, McCain would had inherited a better environment and would probably win the election.
7. McCain received federal aid as his campaign funds which only totals to 80++ million while Barack Obama refused federal aid and opted to raise funds. He raised 600++mil. Once McCain received federal aid, he is not allowed under law to collect donations from his supporters. The huge warchest has enabled the Obama Campaign to air 30 minute advertisements in battleground states AND traditionally Republican voting states such as Indiana, Missouri even Arizona! Thus, McCain was forced to spend more time defending his own base than out snatching blue states such as Pennyslvania
8. Sarah Palin. Probably the worst choice he could had made in the election was selecting Sarah Palin as his Vice President candidate. Although Palin energised the Republican and evangelican base, she appears to be extremely stupid and dumb. McCain was no longer allowed to use the tagline of experience as Palin will succeed him. Its not really advisable to select a young greenhorn who has no intelligence as VP when you are 72 years old!
9. The race factor. Some whites are made to vote for Obama as they fear that they will be called racists if they came out and say they voted McCain.
10. The bruising primaries between Hillary Clinton and Obama has enabled him to organise local centres in each battleground states while McCain had a walk in the park in the Republican primaries. Thus, McCain has no local organization that will help him persuade the voters to vote for him.
11. That is precisely why a socialistic nutcase such as Barack Obama is elected as the 44th President of the United States of America.
12. Moreover, with the Democrats controlling the Senate and the House, the US, the biggest capitalist country in the world will soon turn into the bigger socialist country around. The Democrats will back Obama and give him a blank cheque on whatever he does. As all 3 houses are Democratic, the US is poised to swing left dramatically instead of maintaining the usual centrist role.
13. Ridiculous leftist programs like universal health care, raising taxes and other super liberal laws will be implemented with ease while the Americans are busy basking in Obama's victory.
14. So Citizens of the US, many of you will regret 4 years later and look back and will say, "Ah, I made a mistake!".
